Scientists say that mastery of any activity requires 10,000 hours of deliberate practice. The chart below details my very VERY long (and humbling) journey towards that goal.
Obviously no one can master the entire music industry – there are FAR too many individual skills required for that. Nevertheless, I find it reminds me how far I’ve come, and how far there still is to go.
Finally, 10,000 hours is by no means, ‘the end’ – I don’t believe in ends, as far as mastery is concerned. If this were an epic fantasy, we might call this the first major story arc – the one that sets the stage for all the awesomeness that follows.
